NORMAN J. STUPP FOUNDATION MAKES $10,000 DONATION TO SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY
IN NORTH CITY
NEIGHBORHOODS
(ST. LOUIS) Aug. 10, 2006
The Norman J. Stupp Foundation has awarded The Youth & Family Center a $10,000 grant to support the agency’s Access For All Technology Initiative.
The Stupp Foundation grant will be used to replace computers in The Youth & Family Center computer lab, to ensure that program participants are operating the same systems being used in the academic and professional realms.
The Access For All Technology Initiative increases the rate of computer knowledge, access and ownership among children and families living in low-income households and equips them with the skills to leverage technology to improve the quality of their lives.
Each year through volunteer efforts and computer donations by area corporations, over 100 computers are refurbished and placed free of charge, in low-income households.
As a result of the Stupp Foundation gift, computers being replaced in the lab will now be available to place in the homes of Access For All Technology Initiative participants.
The Youth & Family Center has operated on St. Louis’ Near North Side for over a century. Its programs are directed at young people ages 5-17 and include After School programs, Computer & Technology programs, Athletics, Tutoring & Educational programs and Life Skills Development programs.
